New Delhi, June 5 (H.S.): India and the United States continue to engage in discussions on issues related to migration and the movement of people. In this context, the United States has deported 1,076 Indian nationals so far this year. The corresponding figure for 2025 stood at 3,567.

Addressing the weekly media briefing on Friday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the ongoing India–U.S. dialogue on migration and mobility is primarily aimed at curbing illegal migration. At the same time, efforts are focused on ensuring that legal migration and the legitimate travel of Indian citizens are not adversely affected.

Providing details about the fire tragedy in Malviya Nagar, Jaiswal said that 13 foreign nationals lost their lives in the incident. He stated that the deceased included four citizens of Nigeria, three from Kyrgyzstan, and one each from Mozambique, Liberia, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Iraq.
