Two Bangladeshi Illegal Immigrants Arrested from Delhi's Azadpur Area

New Delhi, 30 June (H.S.): Delhi Police's Foreigners Cell has arrested two Bangladeshi illegal immigrants from the Azadpur area of the national capital. One of the accused had previously been arrested and deported to Bangladesh last year but allegedly re-entered India illegally. Police recovered two smartphones with the banned IMO application installed, Bangladeshi identity cards, and a can of pepper spray from their possession.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akanksha Yadav said on Tuesday that the arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Ruhul Amin alias Tuli Das and MD Jibon Miah alias Lili, both residents of Bangladesh. She said neither of them possessed valid travel documents authorising their stay in India.

According to the DCP, police received specific intelligence on the morning of June 25 that two Bangladeshi nationals were residing illegally in the NS Mandi area under Mahendra Park police station limits in Azadpur. Acting on the information, a police team led by Inspector Vipin Kumar conducted a raid and apprehended both suspects.

During verification, police found that Ruhul Amin had earlier been arrested by the Foreigners Cell of the Northwest District in June 2025. After completing the legal formalities, he had been deported to Bangladesh. However, he allegedly re-entered India illegally and began living again in the Mahendra Park area, where he was traced and arrested for a second time.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they dressed as transgender persons at night in the Azadpur Mandi area to lure customers. They also allegedly used pepper spray against customers. Police recovered a can of pepper spray from Ruhul Amin's bag.

The second accused, Jibon Miah, was working as a cook in the locality, and both were residing together. Police also seized two smartphones with the banned IMO application installed and Bangladeshi identity cards from their possession.

Both accused have been produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), and deportation proceedings have been initiated. Police are also investigating their local contacts, who facilitated their illegal entry into India, and whether others are part of the same network. The investigation is ongoing.
