Amid Capt Amarinder Singh’s Reservations, Preneet Kaur Says BJP High
Command Has Reposed Faith in Dhillon
Chandigarh, 03 June (H.S.): Days after former Punjab Chief Minister
Capt Amarinder Singh raised questions over the appointment of Kewal Singh
Dhillon as the Punjab BJP president, his wife and BJP leader Preneet Kaur has
extended her full support to the newly appointed state chief.
Addressing a function on Wednesday where Kewal Singh Dhillon formally
assumed charge as Punjab BJP president, Preneet Kaur urged party leaders and
workers to remain united and work collectively towards the 2027 Punjab Assembly
elections.
A large flex board displayed at the venue prominently featured Capt
Amarinder Singh alongside BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh and former MP
Ravneet Singh Bittu, indicating the continued importance of the veteran leader
within the party despite recent differences.
Welcoming Dhillon, Preneet Kaur said, “The party high command has reposed
its trust in you. We have all gathered here to welcome and support you. We also
thank all the leaders who contributed to strengthening the party before you. We
must put aside our differences and work together to ensure BJP’s success in the
2027 Assembly elections.”
Preneet Kaur, who joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,
emphasized that since Dhillon had been appointed by the party high command, he
would receive her complete support and cooperation.
Earlier, Capt Amarinder Singh had expressed doubts about Dhillon’s prospects
as Punjab BJP president. While acknowledging that Dhillon was once close to
him, the former Chief Minister said he had not met him for several years. He
also denied media reports claiming that he had recommended Dhillon’s name for
the post.
