
Thiruvnanthapuram ,03 June (H.S.):A 36-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in a shocking incident at Nalanchira in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday morning, with the crime reportedly taking place in front of the couple’s children.
The victim, identified as Haseena Beevi, was found dead inside her residence with her throat slit. Police have identified the accused as her husband, Suresh (46), who fled the scene immediately after the incident and remains absconding.
According to the police, the murder is suspected to have stemmed from a prolonged family dispute. Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had been experiencing marital problems for some time, which may have culminated in the fatal attack.
The incident occurred in a bedroom on the upper floor of the family home. Police said the couple’s children were present in the house when the attack took place. Their eldest daughter, aged 17, is believed to have witnessed the aftermath of the incident and promptly alerted the Mannanthala police over the phone.
A police team rushed to the residence after receiving the call and found Haseena lying in a pool of blood. She was declared dead at the scene. The body was later shifted for postmortem examination.
The couple have four children, and investigators are recording statements from family members and neighbours as part of the probe. Police officials said evidence collected from the house points to a violent altercation preceding the murder.
A manhunt has been launched to trace and arrest Suresh. Special teams have been formed to track the accused, who is believed to have escaped shortly after committing the crime.
The Mannanthala police have registered a case of murder and are continuing their investigation to establish the exact sequence of events that led to the killing.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents expressing disbelief over the brutal nature of the crime.
