June (HS): The Central Reserve Police

Force and Gadchiroli Police have destroyed a huge quantity of material and

equipment used for making arms by Naxalites, concealed underground in Balkheda

jungle on Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.

SP M Ramesh

informed the media on Monday that the operation was initiated a few days ago

based on information received by the police. A lathe machine of about 5 to 6

tonnes weight, 150 claymore and BGL pipes, 220 12-bore gun barrel, 20 rifle rod

metal strips and other equipment were found. Transportation of the heavy

material was difficult, and were, therefore, destroyed on the site following

the Standard Operating Procedure.

The

operation was carried out under the guidance of SP M Ramesh with the teams from

C-60 Commandoes , Pranhita Squad, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and CRPF.
