New Delhi, 29 June (H.S.): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday reviewed the progress of National Highway projects, with a particular focus on construction quality and maintenance, in Uttarakhand.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the review meeting assessed the status of National Highway projects covering a total length of 4,026 kilometres across the state. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), and project contractors.

During the review, Gadkari directed officials and contractors to accelerate the pace of project implementation, strengthen quality monitoring, and adopt modern construction techniques to enhance the lifespan of highway assets, improve riding quality, and ensure seamless connectivity along key transport corridors.

The Union Minister also stressed the need for advance preparedness ahead of the upcoming monsoon season. He instructed officials to ensure effective drainage management, implement robust slope protection measures, and establish rapid response mechanisms to minimise traffic disruptions and safeguard commuters during adverse weather conditions.
