Mumbai, 29 June (29): Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the Satyamev

Jayate Farmer Cup 2026 is not only a competition for farmers by a wider

movement to repose confidence in them. The 18,000 farmers groups will soon rise

up to 50 lakh farmers.

Fadnavis was speaking during the

inauguration of the Farmer Cup 2026 at his official residence in Mumbai. Agriculture

Minister Dattatray Bharne, Minister of State Adv Ashish Jaiswal, Founder of

Paani Foundation and actor Amir Khan and other officers were present. Several

farmers joined through Zoom Link network. ‘Smart Sheti’ app was also launched

on the occasion. Secretary to Agriculture Department Parimal Sinh informed that

farmers in the 46 tehsils of the state have been informed about the Farmers Cup

from 26 August 2025.

Women farmers who have agricultural land in

their name also gets recognition with the legislation passed by the State

Legislature, Fadnavis said. Those who participated on Farmers Cup have

increased production of soyabean, cotton, and maze by 71 per cent. They save

about Rs 6,000 per acre on labour wages due to group farming.

Maharashtra is the first state using AI

technology is the field of agriculture. Besides improving yield, methods to

overcome drought situation has been worked out through experience of the Pani

Foundation, Farmers Cup and Smart Sheti App, Fadnavis said.

Fadnavis assured that he will personally

visit the progressive farmers who have excelled using these facilities to bring

about the desired changes.

Dattatray Bharne said that farmers’ participation

and cooperation can improve agriculture production. He appreciated efforts of landless

women farmers who have been carrying out agricultural operations on rented

lands. Farmers should derive benefits of government schemes in loan waiver,

power supply etc.

Amir Khan said that for realising the dream of a Developed Nation, the agriculture

sector should be strengthen, which is possible via various government schemes.

More than 18000 farmers’ groups have been formed under the Farmers Cup project

which would increase the confidence of farmers.

Fadnavis also communicated with members of

different Self-Help Groups.
