New Delhi, June 28 (HS): Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk on Sunday paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat before beginning his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of demands related to education reforms and accountability in the alleged NEET paper leak case.

The hunger strike forms part of the ongoing protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The protesters are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and action over alleged irregularities in the examination system.

CJP chief Abhijeet Dipke shared details of Wangchuk's visit to Rajghat in a post on social media platform X.

Earlier, in a video message, Wangchuk had said he would wait until June 27 for the government's response. He had stated that if no positive steps were taken on education reforms or issues related to the protection of Ladakh's environment and culture, he would begin an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar from June 28.

The CJP has appealed to youth and citizens across the country to gather at Jantar Mantar and extend support to Wangchuk and the campaign.
