Tirumala, June 28 (HS): Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani on Sunday announced that Reliance Industries will donate 25 electric buses worth Rs 27.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) during his visit to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala.

According to the announcement, Reliance Industries will also bear the salaries and other allowances of the 50 drivers required to operate the buses and assist the temple administration in setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for the fleet.

Earlier in the day, Ambani offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, participated in the Suprabhata Seva and had darshan of Lord Venkateswara. He also donated his hair as part of the temple tradition.

Temple priests welcomed him with Vedic blessings and presented him with Theertha Prasadam.

Ambani had earlier visited the temple on June 12 along with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and other family members.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams manages one of the country's most visited pilgrimage centres and has been expanding the use of electric vehicles as part of its eco-friendly transport initiatives.
