
New Delhi, 27 June (H.S.): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will convene the 16th meeting of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) at Vigyan Bhavan on June 29. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda will chair the meeting. Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel and Prataprao Jadhav will also be present.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday that Health and Family Welfare Ministers from States and Union Territories, Members of Parliament, senior officials from the Central and State governments, non-official members, and experts from the healthcare sector will participate in the meeting. The conference aims to strengthen coordination between the Centre and the States while facilitating comprehensive discussions on key policy issues in the health sector.
The meeting will deliberate on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets and priorities under the National Health Mission (NHM), reforms in the food and pharmaceutical sectors, and issues related to allied healthcare services. Participants will also review the progress of various health programmes, exchange best practices adopted by States, identify emerging challenges, and formulate a coordinated strategy to further improve healthcare delivery across the country.
The Central Council of Health and Family Welfare was constituted under Article 263 of the Constitution of India. It is the apex advisory body of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and plays a crucial role in reviewing policies and programmes related to medical care and public health while promoting coordination between the Centre, States, and Union Territories.
The conference is expected to strengthen cooperative federalism in the health sector and enhance Centre-State coordination for the effective implementation of public health programmes across India.
