FSSAI Notice

New Delhi, 27 June (H.S.): The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notice to SAJ Food Products following a consumer complaint alleging misleading claims on the company's Eat Fit Digestive Biscuits. The food regulator has directed the company to submit its explanation within seven days.

In the notice, FSSAI stated that the company claimed its digestive biscuits contained no sugar, despite the product allegedly containing solid glucose syrup and maltodextrin. The regulator also questioned the company's claim that the biscuits were made with 100% atta (whole wheat flour), stating that the product contains only 72 per cent whole wheat flour.

FSSAI said the claims made on the product packaging appeared to be misleading and sought clarification from the manufacturer regarding the alleged discrepancies.

The authority added that the matter is under investigation and that further action will be decided after examining the company's response to the notice.
