Guwahati, 26 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday reaffirmed the state government's commitment to eradicate drug abuse and illegal trafficking, marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister said the Assam Government remains firmly resolved to make the state completely free from drugs and other social evils. He reiterated that the government, in coordination with Assam Police, has been carrying out an uncompromising drive against narcotics under a zero-tolerance policy.

Dr. Sarma expressed confidence that the sustained crackdown on drug trafficking and related crimes would help free Assam from such destructive social menaces in the coming years. He emphasized that the fight against drugs would continue with full determination to safeguard society and the future of the state's youth.----------
