
Tinsukia (Assam), 22 June (HS): Panic briefly gripped a private tea garden at No. 1 Longtong under Lekhapani Police Station in Margherita subdivision of Assam’s Tinsukia district after a giant python was spotted in the area on Monday.
The sighting of the large reptile created concern among tea garden workers and local residents, who gathered at the spot as news of its presence spread. However, a local youth displayed presence of mind and courage by safely capturing the python, preventing any harm to people or the animal.
The youth immediately informed the Lekhapani Forest Office about the incident. Acting on the information, a team of forest personnel rushed to the site with the necessary equipment and took custody of the reptile.
Forest officials conducted a preliminary examination of the python and found it to be healthy and free from any injuries. After completing the required procedures, the snake was released into a safe natural habitat.
Officials of the Forest Department appreciated the prompt action and bravery shown by local residents in ensuring the safe rescue of the python.-----------
