Guwahati, 22 June (HS): AIUDF chief and MLA Badruddin Ajmal on Monday criticised the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in Assam over eviction drives, rising prices of essential commodities and issues concerning minority communities, alleging that affected people are not receiving adequate rehabilitation support.

Addressing the media, Ajmal said he entered state politics at the direction of his party and was elected with public support. He also criticised the policies of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that an atmosphere of fear has developed among minority communities across the country.

Expressing concern over the ongoing eviction operations in Assam, Ajmal alleged that several genuine Indian citizens were facing hardship during drives aimed at identifying illegal immigrants. He maintained that proper rehabilitation and resettlement measures should be ensured before carrying out any eviction exercise.

The AIUDF leader also highlighted inflation and the increasing cost of essential goods as major issues affecting the public. Referring to the rise in LPG cylinder and fuel prices, he said the growing expenses continue to place a financial burden on ordinary citizens.

Ajmal stated that the AIUDF would continue raising concerns related to inflation, eviction drives and matters affecting minority communities. He added that the party would persist in demanding justice, rehabilitation and safeguards for those impacted by such measures.

The Assam government has maintained that eviction drives are being conducted in accordance with legal procedures and are aimed at reclaiming government land and addressing encroachment.----------
