Kamrup (Assam), 20 June (HS): Assam Irrigation Minister Pijush Hazarika on Saturday visited the Singua Flow Irrigation Scheme (FIS) Cluster and the Solar-Powered Mobile Lift Irrigation Scheme being implemented under the Modernisation Command Area Development (MCAD) pilot project in Boko-Chaygaon to assess their progress and implementation.

During the visit, the minister conducted a detailed inspection of the project sites and interacted with engineers, technical experts and officials associated with the schemes. He reviewed the technical aspects, implementation process, innovative features and expected benefits of the projects. Hazarika also held discussions with local farmers and residents to understand their experiences, concerns and expectations regarding the irrigation facilities.

The minister reviewed the progress of the Singua FIS Cluster project, which is being implemented under the MCAD programme of the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The initiative aims to improve water-use efficiency and strengthen modern irrigation management systems. Officials informed the minister that the project is expected to enhance irrigation coverage and contribute significantly to agricultural productivity in the region.

Hazarika also inspected the Solar-Powered Mobile Lift Irrigation Scheme, an innovative project designed to provide cost-effective irrigation support in remote and flood-prone areas. The scheme uses solar-powered floating pump stations to ensure efficient water supply to agricultural fields. The minister was briefed on the project's technological features and its potential benefits for farmers.

Emphasising the need for timely execution and quality implementation, Hazarika directed concerned officials to complete the works within the stipulated timeframe so that farmers can avail the benefits at the earliest. He reiterated the state government's commitment to farmer welfare, increasing agricultural output and developing modern irrigation infrastructure across Assam.

The inspection programme was attended by MLA Raju Mesh, senior officials of the Irrigation Department, technical experts, project consultants and local representatives.-----------
