Palghar, 02 June
(HS): Out of the eight mountain tunnels required for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet
Train, including seven located in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, the
third tunnel was made at Ambesari village in Dahanu Tehsil of Palghar district.
The 417 meter long and 14.4 mater wide tunnel was excavated using the controlled
drilling and advanced monitoring system from both the sides. Geotechnical
equipment were deployed throughout the excavation to ensure structural
stability and safety.
Special emphasis
was on workers safety working inside the tunnel, including proper ventilation
systems, fire safety, controlled access and continuous geotechnical monitoring,
was ensured.

behaviour and nearby structures during excavation activities.
The Bullet Train
Project requires only one tunnel in Valsad District of Gujarat, rest seven
being in the territory of Maharashtra’s Palghar district.
The first breakthrough
was achieved on October 5, 2023 in the dream project of Prime Minister Narendra

2026, MT-06 (454 m) on February 3, 2026 and MT-07 (417 m) on June 1, 2026.
The work on
MT-04 has been completed up to 60 percent; and MT-03 excavation over 80 per
