New Delhi, 02 June (H.S.):

Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez will pay an official visit to India from June 3 to 7. During the visit, she will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and both countries will explore opportunities to enhance cooperation in a range of sectors, including energy, trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation, and renewable energy.

Addressing the weekly media briefing on Tuesday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Rodríguez was originally scheduled to visit India to participate in the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit, which was to be held on June 1. However, following the postponement of the summit, her travel plans were rescheduled. She will now undertake an official visit to India from June 3 to 7.

Jaiswal stated that Rodríguez will be accompanied by a high-level delegation. The delegation will include Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance, Minister of Science and Technology, Minister of Communication and Information, and Minister of Transportation, along with several senior officials. During the visit, both sides will hold extensive discussions on strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.

He noted that Rodríguez has maintained longstanding engagement with India and has visited the country on several occasions in different capacities. She first visited India in 2015 as Venezuela’s Foreign Minister. Subsequently, she travelled to India as Vice President in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025. This will be her first visit to India as Acting President and her sixth visit overall.

Responding to a question regarding remarks made by Nepal’s Prime Minister concerning alleged occupation of Nepalese territory by India, Jaiswal said that India has taken note of the recent comments by the Prime Minister of Nepal and the statement issued by Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said that nearly 98 percent of the India–Nepal border has already been demarcated, although a few sections remain unresolved. Periodic changes in the course of the Gandak River have created boundary-related complexities in certain areas. In addition, instances of cross-border encroachment and encroachments on no-man’s land have been reported in some identified locations. These areas are currently being jointly mapped by both countries. He added that the established bilateral mechanisms between India and Nepal are actively working to resolve all outstanding boundary-related issues.

Replying to a question about the India visit of Ravi Lamichhane, President of Nepal’s ruling National Independent Party (RSP), Jaiswal said that India and Nepal share a multidimensional and comprehensive partnership. It is in this context that the RSP President is visiting India and is scheduled to participate in various high-level meetings during his stay.

He further stated that political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people ties between the two countries continue to grow stronger, while dialogue at multiple levels remains ongoing.
