
Bhubaneswar, 19 June (H.S.) : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of the sacred Sital Sasthi festival, highlighting its significance as a symbol of Odisha’s rich spiritual heritage and cultural pride.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that Sital Sasthi represents the state's enduring traditions and has long served as a powerful medium for promoting social harmony, unity, and brotherhood. He noted that the festival continues to strengthen the cultural fabric of society while preserving Odisha’s ancient customs and values.
Majhi also announced that the state government has provided a special grant of Rs 1.08 crore to support the safe, smooth, and well-organised celebration of the festival. He said the financial assistance reflects the government's commitment to preserving and promoting Odisha’s age-old cultural traditions.
Seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the Chief Minister prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of every Odia. He expressed hope that the divine grace of the deities would bring peace, progress, and prosperity to all sections of society.
Sital Sasthi, celebrated with great devotion and grandeur in several parts of Odisha, particularly in western Odisha, marks the ceremonial marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is regarded as one of the state's most prominent cultural and religious festivals.
