
Aizawl, 18 June (HS): Mizoram's lone Rajya Sabha seat was won by Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) nominee Khiangte Laltluangkima on Thursday after securing the support of a majority of legislators in the State Assembly.
Polling for the election was conducted at the Conference Hall of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretariat (Annexe Building), where 36 of the 40 Members of the Legislative Assembly exercised their franchise.
Following the completion of the voting process, Returning Officer and Commissioner & Secretary of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, Zothansanga Ralte, officially declared Khiangte Laltluangkima elected as the new Member of Parliament to the Rajya Sabha.
The victory further strengthens the position of the ruling ZPM in the state, with the party successfully securing representation in the Upper House of Parliament.----------
