Guwahati, 18 June (HS): Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu on Thursday clarified that primary schools with fewer than 30 students will not be closed in the state, dismissing reports suggesting otherwise. Minister was talking to reporters after a program.

The minister stated that misleading and false information has been circulating regarding the closure of all primary schools with low enrolment. He emphasized that no such decision has been taken by the government.

Dr. Pegu said the reports claiming that all primary schools with fewer than 30 students would be shut down are completely unfounded. He urged the public, parents and stakeholders not to believe rumours and to rely only on official government announcements for information related to the education sector.

The clarification comes amid growing concern among parents and local communities following the spread of the misinformation.-----------
