
Dhubri (Assam), 18 June (HS): A tense situation prevailed in the Chhagalia area of Golakganj in Assam's Dhubri district after a man was allegedly caught dumping beef in the premises of a Hari Mandir and in the courtyard of a Hindu household, triggering strong public concern and outrage.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Amir Ali, allegedly threw beef at the temple premises and a nearby residence, leading to widespread anger among local residents. The incident sparked tension in the area as people gathered demanding strict action against the culprit.
Acting swiftly, police launched an operation and chased down the accused before apprehending him. Security personnel were deployed in the locality to prevent any escalation and to maintain law and order.
Senior police officials reached the spot and appealed to residents to remain calm while assuring that stringent legal action would be taken against the accused. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the motive behind the act and whether any larger conspiracy was involved.
The incident comes amid heightened sensitivity over similar cases reported in parts of Assam in recent months, where authorities have taken strong measures to prevent communal disturbances and maintain public peace.---------------
