
Lucknow, 17 June (HS): In compliance with the Supreme Court
order, the Uttar Pradesh government's Basic Education Department has begun the
process of collecting TET/CTET-related details of working teachers. Special
Secretary, Basic Education Department, Avdesh Kumar Tiwari, has issued
necessary instructions to the Director of Education (Basic) in this regard.
The directions issued state that the Hon'ble Supreme Court,
in its order dated May 29, 2026, in Review Petition No. 53434/2025, State of
Uttar Pradesh vs. Anjuman Ishaat-e-Taleem Trust, has extended the deadline for
in-service teachers to obtain the TET qualification from August 31, 2027, to
August 31, 2028. The Court also expects states to conduct the TET exam
regularly, preferably twice a year, to provide eligible teachers with adequate
opportunity to acquire the required qualifications.
In the government order issued by Special Secretary Basic
Education Awadhesh Kumar Tiwari, it has been mentioned that the Supreme Court
has amended its earlier order and extended the time limit by one year and has
disposed of all the review petitions filed in this regard.
Additionally, the possibility of conducting a special TET
exam for teachers working at the government level is also being considered. To
this end, the Director of Education (Basic) has been directed to provide,
within a week, a district-wise list of teachers working in schools under the
Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council who have not yet passed the TET/CTET.
