Guwahati, 17 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday visited the Shaheed Smarak Kshetra in Guwahati, where the state BJP has organised a special exhibition to commemorate 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
The four-day exhibition showcases major developmental achievements, infrastructure projects and cultural initiatives undertaken in Assam and the Northeast over the past 12 years. The event is aimed at highlighting the transformation of the region under the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia and State Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah yesterday. According to a BJP statement, the Northeast had long faced a sense of neglect from the national mainstream, with people often compelled to resort to prolonged agitations to secure developmental rights and demands.
The party stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the region has witnessed accelerated growth, stronger national integration and increased public confidence. Several landmark projects in Assam, including the Dhubri-Phulguri Bridge, the proposed road and rail tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra, the Jagiroad semiconductor project, expansion of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, UNESCO recognition for the Charaideo Maidams and initiatives for the development of Batadrava, were highlighted at the exhibition.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Dilip Saikia said Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has played a pivotal role in elevating Assam’s development, prosperity and prestige, adding that the people of the state remain grateful for the Centre’s continued support.
The exhibition will remain open for four days and is expected to attract visitors from across the state to view the developmental journey of Assam and the Northeast during the past decade.----------
