Fuel Prices Unchanged

New Delhi, 15 June (HS): Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across the country on Monday as state-owned oil marketing companies continued to keep retail fuel rates steady.

The last revision in fuel prices was carried out in May 2026, when petrol and diesel prices were increased by ₹3 per litre. Since then, oil marketing companies have maintained the existing rates despite fluctuations in international crude oil prices.

According to the latest rates, petrol is being sold at ₹102.12 per litre in Delhi, ₹111.21 per litre in Mumbai, ₹113.47 per litre in Kolkata and ₹107.88 per litre in Chennai. Diesel prices stand at ₹95.20 per litre in Delhi, ₹97.83 per litre in Mumbai, ₹99.82 per litre in Kolkata and ₹99.65 per litre in Chennai.

Fuel prices vary across states due to differences in value-added tax (VAT) levied by state governments, in addition to central excise duties and local transportation costs.

Meanwhile, the Centre has directed industrial, commercial and institutional consumers to procure petrol and diesel from authorised bulk suppliers instead of retail fuel outlets.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas recently issued an order restricting bulk purchases of petrol and diesel through retail outlets for periods of up to 90 days. The move aims to manage fuel availability amid higher demand, particularly for diesel, in certain regions.

Officials said some bulk consumers had shifted purchases to retail outlets due to price differences, leading to additional pressure on fuel supplies at petrol pumps.
