Darrang (Assam), 14 June (HS): A tragic road accident claimed the life of a youth in Assam's Mangaldai after an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit him and fled the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Mowamari village. Following the accident, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon examination.

According to reports on Sunday, the vehicle involved in the accident sped away from the spot immediately after the collision, along with its driver. Police have launched an investigation to trace the unidentified vehicle and the absconding driver.

The incident has sparked concern among local residents, who have demanded strict action against those responsible for the hit-and-run case.------------
