
Barpeta (Assam), 14 June (HS): Four alleged drug peddlers were arrested during a police operation in Kalgachia under Barpeta district on Saturday night. The arrests were made following a chase and raid conducted by Kalgachia Police with assistance from local residents.
According to police sources on Sunday, raids were carried out at the residences of Noor Alam and Hafizur Rahman in the Kalgachia Wholesale Market area. During the operation, Noor Alam and three others were apprehended, while suspected drug trafficker Hafizur Rahman managed to flee from the spot.
Police recovered two packets of suspected narcotics, 14 containers filled with drugs, 28.80 grams of suspected heroin, cash amounting to ₹23,150, and five mobile phones from the raid site.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mir Labibul Touhid of Balaipathar village, Noor Alam of Kalgachia and Adnur Haque and Ashraful Alam of Dimapur village.
A case has been registered in connection with the seizure and police are continuing their investigation while interrogating the accused.-----------
