New Delhi, 14 June (H.S.):

The Indian Embassy in Oman has intensified efforts to facilitate the early repatriation of the mortal remains of Indian national Nishanth Urthanathan, who passed away while serving aboard a commercial vessel.

In a statement issued on Sunday through the social media platform X, the embassy said it remains in constant contact with the deceased’s family members, the ship’s crew and the relevant authorities to ensure the necessary formalities are completed without delay.

The embassy stated that Nishanth Urthanathan unfortunately lost his life due to medical reasons while on board the merchant vessel. It added that all possible efforts are being made to expedite the disembarkation of his mortal remains and arrange their transportation back to India at the earliest opportunity.

“The Embassy is in continuous touch with the family of Indian national Nishanth Urthanathan, the crew members of the vessel and the concerned authorities. Efforts are underway to facilitate the earliest possible disembarkation and repatriation of his mortal remains to India,” the mission said.

Expressing its condolences, the embassy conveyed its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family during this difficult period and assured them of all possible assistance throughout the repatriation process.

The diplomatic mission said it remains committed to supporting the family and coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the required procedures.
