
Kolkata, 12 June (H.S.): In a special initiative for candidates appearing in the WBCS (Executive) Preliminary Examination-2024, scheduled to be held on June 14, the Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway has decided to operate several additional local train services on Sunday.
According to an official railway press release, the move has been taken to ensure smooth and convenient transportation for a large number of examination candidates travelling to various examination centres across the state. Several EMU and MEMU local trains, which normally remain cancelled on Sundays, will run as per their scheduled timings on June 14.
Under the special arrangement, the following up-direction EMU services will operate: Train No. 38917 Howrah-Amta, 38313 Howrah-Mecheda, 38435 Howrah-Panskura, 38443 Howrah-Panskura, 38445 Howrah-Panskura, and 38703 Howrah-Kharagpur.
In the down direction, Train No. 38708 Kharagpur-Howrah, 38414 Panskura-Howrah, 38420 Panskura-Howrah, 38426 Panskura-Howrah, 38104 Uluberia-Howrah, and 38922 Amta-Howrah EMU services will be available for passengers.
South Eastern Railway has also announced the operation of additional MEMU services. In the up direction, Train No. 68093 Kharagpur-Jhargram MEMU and 68023 Jhargram-Purulia MEMU will run. In the down direction, Train No. 68024 Purulia-Jhargram MEMU and 68094 Jhargram-Kharagpur MEMU services will be operated.
Railway officials said the special train services are aimed at facilitating hassle-free travel for WBCS aspirants and reducing passenger congestion on examination day. Candidates have been advised to check train schedules in advance and plan their journeys accordingly.
