
New Delhi, 12 June (H.S.): Global markets are providing positive signals today, with U.S. equities ending the previous session on a strong note. Dow Jones Futures is also trading higher, while European markets witnessed sustained buying in the previous session. Asian markets, too, are largely trading in positive territory.
Investor sentiment across global markets has remained upbeat following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding a potential agreement with Iran and reports that plans for military action against the country had been shelved. As a result, Wall Street witnessed strong buying throughout the previous trading session.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 929.97 points, or 1.86 percent, to close at 50,848.75 points. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index gained 127.31 points, or 1.75 percent, to finish at 7,394.30 points. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 640.16 points, or 2.54 percent, ending the session at 25,809.66 points. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures was trading 0.06 percent higher at 50,877.32 points.
European markets also maintained a positive trajectory during the previous session. The FTSE Index advanced 0.48 percent to close at 10,303.88 points. Likewise, the CAC Index rose 0.48 percent to settle at 8,200.80 points, while the DAX Index edged up 0.06 percent to close at 24,209.71 points.
Asian markets are generally trading higher today. Of the nine major Asian indices being tracked, eight were in positive territory, while one index was marginally lower. The sole laggard was Gift Nifty, which slipped 0.08 percent to trade at 23,384 points.
On the other hand, the Straits Times Index gained 0.39 percent to reach 5,007.66 points. The SET Composite Index advanced 0.83 percent to 1,585.39 points. South Korea’s KOSPI Index recorded a remarkable surge, climbing 639.41 points, or 8.24 percent, to 8,403.36 points.
Similarly, Japan’s Nikkei Index jumped 2,222.73 points, or 3.46 percent, to 66,440 points. Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index rose 151.62 points, or 2.58 percent, to 6,037.65 points. Taiwan’s Weighted Index gained 1,012.85 points, or 2.35 percent, to 44,162.31 points. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index advanced 485.71 points, or 1.96 percent, to 24,735 points, while China’s Shanghai Composite Index climbed 1.56 percent to trade at 4,049.29 points.
