
Dubai, 11 June (H.S.): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for its Player of the Month awards for May in both the men's and women's categories. The shortlist is dominated by players from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, England and New Zealand.
Men’s Category Nominees
The nominees in the men’s category are Nepal all-rounder Deependra Singh Airee, Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam and veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim.
Deependra Singh Airee enjoyed an outstanding month, scoring a century against the United Arab Emirates national cricket team and accumulating 249 runs overall. He also contributed with the ball, claiming eight wickets.
Taijul Islam played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s Test series victory over Pakistan national cricket team, taking 13 wickets across the series.
Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim emerged as the leading run-scorer of the series, amassing 235 runs and delivering several crucial innings for Bangladesh.
Women’s Category Nominees
In the women’s category, England fast bowler Lauren Bell, Pakistan batter Gull Feroza and New Zealand all-rounder Maddy Green have been shortlisted.
Lauren Bell impressed with her bowling performances against New Zealand and India, claiming a total of 13 wickets during the month.
Gull Feroza enjoyed a prolific ODI series against Zimbabwe women's national cricket team, scoring 50, 100 and an unbeaten 106 in three consecutive matches.
Maddy Green also produced notable performances against England, scoring 125 runs in One-Day Internationals and adding another 93 runs in the T20 format.
The winners of the ICC Player of the Month awards will be determined through a combination of votes from global fans and an independent panel of cricket experts.
