Meerut,

01 June (HS): In Meerut, a 42-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a

17-year-old girl who went missing. The defendant is accused of murdering the teen,

a student and kabaddi player, over a money argument before burying her corpse

in a sewer. Meerut police have nabbed a 42-year-old suspect in the murder of a

17-year-old girl who had been missing since mid-April. The arrest comes after

an investigation into the teenager's disappearance, which began after her

family reported her missing to police late last month.

Anushka

was last seen on April 16. She was a class 12 student residing in a

school-related residence. Three investigation teams followed leads, including

Shyam Dhanak, who appeared to avoid interrogation by moving to

Chandigarh-Mohali.

Authorities

apprehended Dhanak via technological and intelligence operations. He admitted

to murdering Anushka, claiming that a money argument led to the deadly

altercation. The accused allegedly beat her with a brick and disposed of her

corpse in a nearby sewer. The police retrieved the teenager's remains and

stated that more charges will be filed against Dhanak as the inquiry continued.
