01 June (HS): In Meerut, a 42-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a
17-year-old girl who went missing. The defendant is accused of murdering the teen,
a student and kabaddi player, over a money argument before burying her corpse
in a sewer. Meerut police have nabbed a 42-year-old suspect in the murder of a
17-year-old girl who had been missing since mid-April. The arrest comes after
an investigation into the teenager's disappearance, which began after her
family reported her missing to police late last month.
Anushka
was last seen on April 16. She was a class 12 student residing in a
school-related residence. Three investigation teams followed leads, including
Shyam Dhanak, who appeared to avoid interrogation by moving to
Chandigarh-Mohali.
Authorities
apprehended Dhanak via technological and intelligence operations. He admitted
to murdering Anushka, claiming that a money argument led to the deadly
altercation. The accused allegedly beat her with a brick and disposed of her
corpse in a nearby sewer. The police retrieved the teenager's remains and
stated that more charges will be filed against Dhanak as the inquiry continued.
