
view meeting with the principals of government and funded
colleges affiliated with Maharaja Suheldev University, Azamgarh, was held today
in the Gandhi Auditorium of Jan Bhavan under the chairmanship of Anandiben
Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chancellor of State Universities. All
colleges also gave presentations regarding their institutions' academic,
co-curricular, and skill development activities.
Addressing
the meeting, the Governor said that the process of self-enumeration for house
listing and house counting has begun today in Uttar Pradesh under the first
phase of Census 2027. She appealed to everyone to participate in this important
campaign by visiting the portal and entering accurate and factual information,
making the program a success.
Addressing
the state women's colleges, the Governor stated that the Government of India
and the State Government are implementing numerous schemes for women's
empowerment. Colleges should strive to extend the benefits of these schemes to
as many students as possible. She urged them to offer technical and
skill-development courses to empower students to meet current needs and empower
them with self-reliance. By promoting cooking, sewing, embroidery, mehndi,
technology, yoga, music, and other vocational and creative activities, students
should be provided with such education that they can also become financially
empowered by working part-time.
The
Governor stated that universities have been invited to the Raj Bhavan from time
to time and provided guidance regarding NAAC, NIRF, and other rankings, which
has yielded positive results. Citing the example of Agra University, she said
that despite various challenges and adverse circumstances, the university
received an A++ grade from NAAC due to the efforts of the Vice Chancellor and
faculty. She also encouraged colleges to actively participate in these ranking
processes and work in accordance with the prescribed standards. She said that
continued hard work, teamwork, and planned efforts can yield better results.
The
Governor urged teachers to arrive at the college on time to ensure quality
education and engage students in skill development and various creative
activities. Social and public awareness programs should be conducted in
surrounding villages; as such activities have a positive impact on NAAC
evaluations. She urged all principals to meet in their colleges to disseminate
the guidance received today to teachers and students, and to form teams to work
toward goals.
She
said that today's presentation clearly demonstrates the students' remarkable
talent and skills. It is the responsibility of colleges to provide a suitable
platform for these talents. She urged that different teachers should be
assigned responsibilities based on the various NAAC evaluation standards and
work seriously. The Governor encouraged
students to participate in various Olympiad examinations. Referring to her
tenure as Education Minister in Gujarat, she said that skill development and
co-curricular activities were particularly encouraged there. She explained that
22 children are being trained in flute playing at Jan Bhavan and that such
creative activities should be encouraged in colleges as well.
She
directed that students who excel in yoga should be invited to the Raj Bhavan
after June 21st. Regarding the shortage of teachers, she urged
colleges to submit necessary requisitions to the government so that vacant
positions could be filled. She also stressed the need to involve students in
NCC, NSS, and Agniveer training.
The
Governor said that the Defense Industrial Corridor is rapidly developing in
Uttar Pradesh, under which projects related to defense production are operating
in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot. Students should be
informed about this sector and encouraged to pursue careers in defense and
technology.
Emphasizing
the need to develop the educational system in accordance with the National
Education Policy, she said that, like universities, all college processes, from
enrollment to examination, should be conducted through the Samarth portal,
ensuring transparency and ease. She also directed efforts to increase
enrollment, develop green campuses, conduct regular yoga exercises, and launch
tree-planting campaigns.
Addressing
the meeting, Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education, Government of
Uttar Pradesh, said that as a result of the constant guidance and persistent
efforts of Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel, the field of higher
education in Uttar Pradesh has undergone revolutionary transformation. Today,
the state's universities are performing excellently in national and
international rankings, and Uttar Pradesh has become the highest-ranked state
in the country. Every meeting held by the Governor provides new learning.
Colleges received important guidance in today's meeting as well. He called upon
all principals to follow this guidance and strive to take their colleges to new
heights. He said that the guru-shishya tradition should be strengthened in
colleges. For the all-round development of students, it is essential to promote
sports, skill development, and innovation-based activities.
In
the meeting, Special Officer to the Governor (Additional Chief Secretary
level), Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, presented the program's outline and
elaborated on its purpose and utility. He said that all universities in the
state are conducting their work through the Samarth portal, which has brought
transparency and ease to administrative and academic processes. In this same
vein, colleges are also being connected to the Samarth portal and prepared for
the new system.
He
said that the purpose of this meeting is to make colleges aware of better
working practices, quality-based education, and ranking standards, so that they
too can perform excellently. Referring to the characteristics of the Azamgarh
region, he said that the students here have a special interest and
participation in sports activities, and this region also has a good recognition
and connectivity at the global level. Highlighting the significance of the
meeting, he also mentioned the innovations being carried out in the field of
education and skill development at the Raj Bhavan, saying that these
innovations are providing new direction and inspiration to higher education institutions.
Expressing
his gratitude to the Governor, Professor Sanjeev Kumar, Vice Chancellor of
Maharaja Suheldev University, Azamgarh, said that due to the Governor's
constant guidance and visionary leadership, the state's universities are
progressing towards excellence in higher education. He elaborated on the NAAC
evaluation process for Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, explaining that
the university's convocation was scheduled prior to the NAAC evaluation. During
that time, the Governor thoroughly reviewed the university's NAAC preparation
and provided necessary guidance on various aspects. As a result of her guidance
and constant monitoring, the university received an A++ grade from NAAC. He
also informed that the university has taken special initiatives to promote
e-libraries in all colleges. A QR-based scanning system has been developed for
the university library, through which students of affiliated colleges can
access library facilities digitally.
On
this occasion, Special Officer (Education) Dr. Pankaj L. Jani, Special
Secretary of Higher Education Department Mr. Badrinath Singh, Director Higher
Education B.L. Sharma, officers and employees of Raj Bhavan and other
dignitaries were present.
