Lucknow,
07 May (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally launched the first phase
of the 2027 Census in the state on Thursday. He inaugurated the house listing
and house counting process at a program held at the Chief Minister's residence
at 5 Kalidas Marg with the slogan Our Census, Our Development. On
this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Census is not merely a
population count, but a strong foundation for holistic, inclusive, and planned
development. Today is an era of data-driven decisions, and accurate census data
plays a vital role in the effective implementation of infrastructure,
education, health, social security, and various public welfare schemes. He said
that the Census is a means to ensure that even the last person in society can
participate equally in the development process.
The
Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a
digital census is being conducted for the first time in the country. In the
first phase, house listing and house counting will be completed. The public
will be provided with the option of self-enumeration from May 7 to May 21,
2026. Through this, citizens will be able to enter their information on the
digital platform themselves. After this, census personnel will go door-to-door
as part of field work to complete the enumeration work. In the second phase,
every individual will be counted. This time, caste census has also been
included in the census. Also, for the first time, forest villages are being
included in the census process.
The
Chief Minister said that real-time data is crucial in today's times. The use of
digital technology has made the census process more transparent, effective, and
quick. A dedicated census portal has been developed to ensure continuous
monitoring of work down to the village and ward levels.
He
said that the current estimated population of Uttar Pradesh is approximately
257 million. The census will be conducted in 18 divisions, 75 districts, 350
tehsils, 17 municipal corporations, 745 other urban bodies, 21 cantonment
boards, 57,694 gram panchayats, and approximately 14,000 revenue villages.
The
Chief Minister said that approximately 5.47 lakh personnel are being deployed
to successfully conduct this massive task, including 4.50 lakh enumerators, 85
thousand supervisors, and 12 thousand state and district level officers.
Additionally, approximately 5.35 lakh personnel have been trained for both
phases.
The
Chief Minister urged the people of the state to actively participate in the
census, considering it a national responsibility. He urged everyone to get
themselves counted at only one location and provide accurate and factual
information, so that accurate and effective development plans can be
formulated. The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to all the
officers, employees, and citizens involved in the census work.
