students to get 02 credit points at university level

07 May (HS): The second phase of the Student Police Experiential Learning
(SPEL) programme, conducted for the National Service Scheme (NSS)
volunteers registered on the My Bharat Portal of the Ministry of Youth Affairs
and Sports, Government of India, has been successfully completed in all 75
districts of Uttar Pradesh. 75 volunteers from the commissionerate areas and 50
volunteers from other districts participated in the programme. As per the
mandate issued by the Higher Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh,
students participating in the SPEL programme will be awarded 02 credit points
in their mark sheets at the university level.
On
this occasion, State Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that
under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is
continuously working to connect the youth not only with academic knowledge but
also with practical and social experience. He said that the Student
Police Experiential Learning program is playing an important role in
making the youth responsible citizens by providing them a real understanding of
law and order, social responsibility and discipline. The Minister said that
providing 02 credit points at the university level will encourage students and
more and more youth will join this innovative program and play their active
role in nation building.
Dr.
Manju Singh, Special Officer and State Liaison Officer, National Service
Scheme, Higher Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, stated that
this program, proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India,
aims to practically engage youth in policing, law and order, community
participation, and social responsibility. She explained that under the program,
students received 120 hours of practical training over 30 days, covering police
operations at the police station level, cybersecurity, traffic management,
women's safety, disaster management, and community policing. During the first
phase of the program, the active and disciplined participation of NSS
volunteers in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh was praised during a presentation
by ADG (Rules and Manuals) Ashish Patel at the Ministry in Delhi. Following
national acclaim for the volunteers' discipline, work ethic, and social
commitment, the second phase of the program was conducted in a more
comprehensive format.
