New Delhi, 07 May (H.S.):

The Supreme Court will hear a petition seeking directions to the Central Government for an early decision on declaring Ram Setu a national monument during the third week of July. Today's hearing was adjourned due to petitioner Subramanian Swamy's ill health.

The court had issued notice to the Central Government on August 29, 2025. Subramanian Swamy filed the petition stating he had submitted representations twice to the Centre on this matter, but received no decision. He subsequently approached the Supreme Court.

Subramanian Swamy had previously raised this issue in the Supreme Court. During earlier hearings, the Centre stated it would not remove Ram Setu and would explore alternative options for the Sethusamudram project. The petition argues that Ram Setu's religious and historical significance warrants its declaration as a national monument.
