Imphal, 07 May (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of coordinated operations across Imphal West, Imphal East and Churachandpur districts over last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of several active cadres linked to banned insurgent outfits, including KCP (PSC), PREPAK and UKNA. Large quantities of cash, arms, explosives and communication equipment were also recovered during the operations.

In one operation, security personnel apprehended an active cadre of KCP (PSC-Politburo Standing Committee), identified as Haobam Johnson Meitei (25), alias Sanathoi alias Sagei, from his residence at Lamlongei Awang Leikai under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were seized during the arrest.

Security forces also arrested a woman cadre of the same outfit, Salam Ongbi Konjengbam Karuna Devi (51), alias Pipik, from Sagolband Meino Leirak under Imphal Police Station area. Officials recovered cash amounting to ₹6.81 lakh, along with a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from her possession.

In another operation, an active PREPAK (PRO) cadre, Wangkhem Rohit Singh alias Angkhei (25) of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai under Lamphel Police Station, was arrested from his residence. Two mobile phones and ₹1,400 in cash were seized from him.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police arrested Laishram Ibomcha Meitei (47), an active KCP (PSC) cadre allegedly involved in the explosion near Imphal Airport on May 3. He was picked up from Wangkhei Pukhrambam Leirak under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. Police said the accused has been remanded to ten days’ custody for further investigation. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered from him.

In a separate development, acting on inputs obtained during the interrogation of arrested UKNA S/S Lieutenant Seimenlal Haokip (22) of Ainujang Village in Churachandpur district, security forces launched a search operation in the forested areas of S Kholen and Ukha Loikhai.

During the operation, the forces recovered one AK-47 rifle with magazine, a Glock .32 ACP pistol with magazine, 26 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, two hand grenades, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), one radio set, a Maruti Gypsy vehicle with key and a smartphone.

Police said further investigation and follow-up operations are underway.-----------
