Kannur, 07 May (H.S.):Senior CPM leader P. Jayarajan on Thursday urged party workers and supporters to avoid open discussions and criticism on social media regarding the Left Democratic Front’s defeat in the Kerala Assembly elections, stressing that internal issues should be addressed only through organisational mechanisms and party forums.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, the CPM State committee member also demanded the removal of flex boards and banners carrying his photographs that had appeared in some places after the election results. Jayarajan clarified that such campaigns were against the organisational culture and political principles of the Communist movement.

He said certain sections disappointed by the election outcome were reacting emotionally and targeting some party leaders through public criticism, which, according to him, was harmful to the party and indirectly aiding political opponents.

“Communists have faced both victories and defeats in elections across India. Every setback is evaluated objectively, and corrective measures are adopted through internal discussions,” Jayarajan said, adding that the party leadership had already announced a serious review of the Assembly election results and further corrective steps would follow.

Without naming anyone, he criticised attempts to elevate individual leaders through publicity campaigns, saying such practices resembled the political culture of the Congress party rather than that of the CPM.

“Congress leaders try to project individuals through flex boards and slogans during times of crisis. That is Congress culture. The Communist movement functions differently because it is a revolutionary organisation working to transform the existing capitalist system,” he said.

Jayarajan also warned that right-wing forces were attempting to exploit the present discontent within the party to intensify attacks against the CPM. He appealed to cadres and sympathisers to refrain from glorifying him on social media while simultaneously insulting other party leaders.

“Opinions and criticisms should be conveyed to the party leadership. Internal party discussions must be encouraged instead of public campaigns on social media,” he said.

The CPM veteran expressed confidence that the party would overcome the current political crisis in Kerala, drawing parallels with the party’s revival efforts in West Bengal.

“The CPM has begun regaining strength in Bengal. Likewise, the party will overcome the present crisis in Kerala as well,” Jayarajan added.
