New Delhi, 07 May (H.S.):
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched the Janani digital platform on Thursday to bolster maternal and child health services. Janani (Integrated Care Journey for Pregnancy, Delivery, and Newborn) is a modern digital platform designed for monitoring and managing women's and children's health records, serving as an advanced version of the erstwhile RCH portal that creates digital records from pregnancy through newborn care and family planning.
The platform facilitates timely monitoring of pregnant women's check-ups, delivery preparation, immunization, and newborn care. The Janani app includes QR code-based digital mother and child health cards, ensuring health records are easily accessible anywhere.
It incorporates automatic alerts for high-risk pregnancies, real-time dashboards, and tracking systems. The platform integrates with national systems like U-WIN and POSHAN for better scheme coordination. Beneficiary registration occurs via ABHA, Aadhaar, and mobile numbers, with pan-India search and record portability for migrant populations.
According to the Health Ministry, over 1.34 crore beneficiaries are already registered on the platform. This includes registration of more than 30 lakh pregnant women, issuance of over 30 lakh MCH cards, and over 1 lakh biometric verifications.
The government states that Janani will play a crucial role in reducing maternal and child mortality rates, enhancing healthcare accessibility, and strengthening the digital health ecosystem.
