
Beed, 07 May (HS): The then District Collector of Beed, Avinash
Pathak has been arrested from Latur, in connection with the fraud related to
land acquisition for the National Highway and compensation against the acquired
land. The alleged fraud worth crores of rupees was reported to the police,
following which an enquiry has been initiated through a Special Investigation
Team (SIT). The information about arrest of Pathak was given by Police
Superintendent Navnit Kawat.
Pathak will be presented in the court. He was
interrogated by the police. Ten people have been booked in this case by the Shivajinagar
Police Station. The Revenue Department was shocked following arrest of Pathak,
whose name appeared in the fraud relating to land acquisition and compensation fraud
in Beed district.
The enquiry is being conducted under the guidance of
Deputy Superintendent of Police Puja Pawar. Presently M Venkatraman is
conducting the enquiry as Pawar is on leave.
