New Delhi, 07 May (H.S.):

The Delhi High Court has permitted examination of Arvind Singh Mewar's will in the inheritance dispute involving Rajasthan's Mewar royal family. Justice Subramanium Prasad's bench ordered lawyers for the parties, forensic, and handwriting experts to inspect the original will document. The court scheduled will examination for May 15 and next hearing for May 19.

The court directed experts involved in will examination not to take photographs of the original document during inspection. The High Court had issued notices on January 20. Notices were issued to Padmaja Parmar and her sister Bhargavi Kumari Mewar on Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar's petition.

The Supreme Court on December 18, 2025, ordered transfer of all petitions by Mewar royal family members to Delhi High Court. Previously, some family members had filed petitions in Bombay High Court while others approached Rajasthan High Court's Jodhpur bench. The Supreme Court mandated consolidation in Delhi High Court for uniform adjudication.

The dispute concerns control over Udaipur's City Palace, HRH Hotels Group, and other properties. Petitions challenge the validity of Maharaja Arvind Singh Mewar's will. One petitioner belongs to Arvind Singh Mewar's family. The petitioner was successor to Maharana Bhagwant Singh Mewar.

Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar filed one petition in Supreme Court. Lakshman Singh Mewar sought transfer of pending Bombay High Court cases to Rajasthan High Court, while petitioner Padmaja Kumari Parmar sought transfer of Rajasthan High Court Jodhpur bench cases to Bombay High Court.
