Bhubaneswar, 07 May (H.S.): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari after the Central Government approved over ₹769 crore for 10 major road infrastructure projects in Odisha under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the financial year 2026–27.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister thanked both leaders and said the Centre’s continued support is playing a crucial role in strengthening Odisha’s road infrastructure network.

He noted that the sanctioned projects will significantly improve connectivity, particularly in remote, tribal and underserved regions, and bring transformative changes to the state’s transportation system.

According to official details, the approved projects include road widening, upgradation works, and construction of bridges and flyovers across several districts of Odisha.

Among the major allocations, Jharsuguda district will see development of the Dalganga–Tilia and Charpali Dangaghat road along with the Rampela approach bridge, with an investment of over ₹52.69 crore. In Ganjam district, a flyover from Tata Benz Square to MKCG Medical College has been approved at a cost of over ₹146 crore, along with another flyover from Girisola Chowk to the Old Bus Stand in Berhampur, costing over ₹168.26 crore.

In Koraput district, road improvement works include the Semiliguda–Handiput road (₹38.46 crore) and the Lamtaput–Machhkund road (₹15.20 crore). In Nabarangpur district, the Umorkote–Chandahandi–Malgam road widening project has been sanctioned at ₹32.62 crore.

Similarly, in Gajapati district, the Adava–Paniganda road (₹45.52 crore) and Ramgiri–Jirang–Narayanpur road (₹24.80 crore) will be strengthened. In Nuapada district, the Khariar Road–Amodi–Beltukuri road widening project has been approved with an allocation of ₹61.11 crore. In Balasore district, the Jaleswar–Batagram–Chandaneswar road upgradation project has been sanctioned at ₹184.97 crore.

The Chief Minister said these projects will improve connectivity across coastal and tribal regions, enhance access to education and healthcare, and boost trade and economic activities. He added that the infrastructure development will contribute significantly to the overall economic growth of Odisha and improve the quality of life of people across the state.
