Guwahati, 07 May (HS): Assam Advocate General Devajit Lon Saikia has tendered his resignation from the constitutional office following the completion of his nearly five-year tenure and the end of the present state government’s term under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In a statement shared on social media, Saikia said he resigned while “keeping and upholding the high tradition and constitutional practice.” He stated that serving the State of Assam as Advocate General had been a matter of “immense honour and privilege.”

Saikia also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Council of Ministers, members of the legal fraternity, government officials and all concerned for their trust, cooperation and support during his tenure.

His resignation comes amid the transition process following the completion of the current government’s term in the state.------------
