06 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on
Wednesday that investment projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore are being
developed in the state's six defense industrial corridors, which are situated
in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot. Addressing the
three-day NorthTech Symposium held in New Cantt, he stated that the state
government has also established a vast land bank. Investors who are willing to
invest are given incentives via defense and aerospace policy. The chief
minister stated that Aligarh has emerged as a hub for small guns, defense
equipment, and military supplies, while Kanpur, dubbed the Manchester of
the East, is becoming a center for ammunition, missiles, defense
textiles, and protective gear.
Lucknow
has concentrated on BrahMos missiles and heavy defense manufacture. Chitrakoot
and Agra are being built for precision engineering in aerospace and defense, he
explained. Adityanath
stated that artillery rounds, drones, bulletproof jackets, and modern
communication equipment are being manufactured in defense corridors to improve
the capability of the armed forces. Uttar Pradesh has the necessary ecology to
support military industrial corridors. The state has 56% skilled workforce.
There is also a robust base of MSMEs, with 96 lakh units currently active in
industries ranging from hardware to leather and textiles, he stated. The chief
minister stated that the government is collaborating with the Indian Institute
of Technology Kanpur to establish a Centre of Excellence for Drones.
He
stated that more than 21,000 start-ups had been founded in Uttar Pradesh
spanning areas like as AI, robotics, drones, semiconductors, and data centers. Referring
to governance changes, Adityanath stated that when his administration took
office in 2017, ensuring good governance and establishing the rule of law were
top priorities.To help the state overcome its identity issue, we have to
aggressively execute a zero-tolerance policy against crime and criminals, he
stated. He stated that this approach has resulted in a healthy ecosystem, with
Uttar Pradesh now having one of the best infrastructures in the country in
terms of expressways, roads, rail connectivity, metro networks, and air
connectivity.
Prioritising
security has sparked interest from significant investors in Uttar Pradesh.

Minister Rajnath Singh opened the NorthTech Symposium on May 4. According to
organizers, around 250 military businesses presented their goods and technology
during the expo.
