06 May (HS): The Excise Department in Uttar Pradesh has once again set a new
record in revenue collection. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise
Department, Nitin Agarwal, said on Wednesday that in the month of April 2026 of
the financial year 2026-27, a revenue of Rs 5,248.06 crore was received. This
is 21.50 percent more i.e. Rs 928.60 crore more than the Rs 4,319.46 crore
received in April 2025. This is 0.92 percent more than the target of Rs
5,200.00 crore set for April 2026.
He
said that in April 2026, enforcement action continued, with 9,535 cases
registered. 2.55 lakh liters of illicit liquor were seized. During this period,
1,516 people were arrested, and 214 were sent to jail. Eight vehicles were
seized.
It
is noteworthy that in the financial year 2025-26, till March 2026, a total
revenue of Rs 57, 722.26 crore was received, which is 9.79 percent more i.e. Rs
5,149.19 crore as compared to Rs 52, 573.07 crore received in the same period
of the previous financial year 2024-25. In the financial year 2025-26, till
March 2026, a total of 1 lakh 18 thousand 978 cases were registered against
illegal liquor in the state. 30.94 lakh litres of illegal liquor and
intoxicants were recovered. During this period, 21, 446 persons were arrested
and 3,967 persons were sent to jail. 152 vehicles involved in illegal smuggling
were seized.
