New Delhi, 06 May (H.S.): Global markets are emanating positive cues today, with American indices closing firmly higher in the previous session and Dow Jones futures poised for gains. European markets exhibited mixed performance yesterday, while Asian bourses are uniformly advancing across the board.

Anticipation of a potential lull in the ongoing West Asian conflict fueled optimism on Wall Street, propelling major indices to strong closes. The Dow Jones concluded 350 points higher, the S&P 500 index rose 0.81 percent to settle at 7,259.22, and the Nasdaq surged 258.32 points or 1.03 percent to 25,326.13. Currently, Dow Jones futures are trading 100.85 points or 0.20 percent higher at 49,399.10.

European indices delivered varied results at the close of the prior session. The FTSE index declined 144.82 points or 1.42 percent to 10,219.11, while the CAC index advanced 86.19 points or 1.07 percent to 8,062.31. Similarly, the DAX index climbed 410.43 points or 1.68 percent, ending at 24,401.70.

Buying sentiment prevails across Asian markets today, with all nine major indices in positive territory. Gift Nifty is up 85 points or 0.35 percent at 24,194.50, and the Nikkei index has gained 228.20 points or 0.38 percent to reach 59,513.12.

The Kospi index is witnessing robust gains, advancing 466.58 points or 6.73 percent to 7,403.57. The Shanghai Composite index trades 1.27 percent higher at 4,164.42, while the SET Composite index has jumped 1.26 percent to 1,508.82.

Additionally, the Taiwan Weighted index is up 321.42 points or 0.79 percent at 41,090.71, Hang Seng at 191.39 points or 0.73 percent to 26,090, Jakarta Composite 0.69 percent higher at 7,106.15, and Straits Times 0.08 percent up at 4,924.78.
