Mumbai, 06 May (HS):

A fire broke out at the technical room of the Underground Metro Station of Aqua

Line-3, at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal

2. The fire was reported at 4.10 pm on Wednesday, following which the station

was filled with smoke emanating from the Technical Room.

The passengers

were evacuated safely. Nobody was injured in the incident. Following the fire

the Metro traffic from the airport and Cuff Parade stations was affected.

The Fire Brigade

were required to use oxygen masks to defuse the fire due to the smoke.

Although the

exact cause of the fire was not known, short circuit is suspected to be the

reason. Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has called it a minor incident.

On April 9, fire

near Terminal 1 of the airport was reported, reportedly due to short circuit.

Nobody was injured in that incident
