Mumbai, 06 May (HS):
A fire broke out at the technical room of the Underground Metro Station of Aqua
Line-3, at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal
2. The fire was reported at 4.10 pm on Wednesday, following which the station
was filled with smoke emanating from the Technical Room.
The passengers
were evacuated safely. Nobody was injured in the incident. Following the fire
the Metro traffic from the airport and Cuff Parade stations was affected.
The Fire Brigade
were required to use oxygen masks to defuse the fire due to the smoke.
Although the
exact cause of the fire was not known, short circuit is suspected to be the
reason. Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has called it a minor incident.
On April 9, fire
near Terminal 1 of the airport was reported, reportedly due to short circuit.
Nobody was injured in that incident
