Guwahati, 06 May (HS): Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress leadership, accusing it of weakening the opposition and failing to connect with the masses in Assam following the Assembly election results.

Addressing the media, Gogoi alleged that the opposition has been “ruined by Congress tactics,” and criticized Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for his style of politics. He remarked that while Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma engages directly with people on the ground, opposition leaders lack grassroots outreach.

Taking a jibe at Gaurav Gogoi, the Raijor Dal leader claimed that his “elite style” and limited public engagement have distanced him from voters. He further alleged that certain controversies had mentally impacted the Congress leader, weakening his political effectiveness.

Gogoi also commented on the broader electoral outcome, stating that multiple leaders sharing the Gogoi अsurname failed to make a real impact in the elections, remaining significant only in name.

The remarks come within 48 hours of the declaration of election results, signaling rising friction within the opposition camp in Assam as parties reassess their strategies after the polls.-----------
