Kochi ,29 May (H.S.):
AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) President Shweta Menon on Thursday declined to comment on the complaints filed by actor Ansiba Hassan, stating that she did not wish to discuss matters related to the organisation in public and that internal issues would be addressed within the association itself.
Ansiba has filed two separate complaints in connection with recent developments involving members of the film fraternity. One complaint was submitted to AMMA’s Executive Committee against actor Tiny Tom, while another was lodged with the Kerala Home Department and the police against actor Lakshmi Priya and Tripunithura Woman Sub-Inspector Reshma.
According to Ansiba, she was humiliated by the police officer while being questioned at a police station following a complaint filed by Lakshmi Priya. The allegation forms part of the complaint she submitted to the Home Department seeking action against the officer concerned.
Addressing the media, Shweta Menon said AMMA would not discuss organisational matters publicly and reiterated that all issues would be handled through the association’s established mechanisms.
The complaint against Tiny Tom was taken up by AMMA’s Executive Committee, which had asked Ansiba to appear before the committee in person between June 1 and June 3 and present evidence supporting her allegations. The committee had indicated that it was prepared to examine the complaint and explore possible resolutions.
However, Ansiba objected to the Executive Committee hearing the matter. She argued that the complaint should instead be examined by an independent and neutral panel. The actor proposed the formation of a special committee comprising actor-director Ramesh Pisharody, actor Mala Parvathy and actor Dhyan Sreenivasan to investigate the issue.
Responding to the demand, AMMA General Secretary Kukku Parameswaran said the organisation could not function according to individual preferences and would follow its own procedures while dealing with complaints and disciplinary matters.
