(HS): Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) Pune City Unit President

Shrikant Patil was named as candidate for the Pune Local Authorities’

constituency candidate for the Legislative Council elections. Patil’s name was

finalised following a phone call by the party chief Sharad Pawar. Patil is

expected to file his nomination papers on Friday itself.

Patil was named

by Pawar for his efforts to strengthen the party in the Pune region. Pawar also

emphasised the importance of local candidate for the election. Besides Pune, NCP

(SP) is contesting Thane, Satara and Sangli seats. Discussion about other

candidates was in progress.
