
Amravati, 29 May (HS): Bharatiya Janata Party has announced
the name of Pravin Pote as official candidate of BJP-led Mahayuti for the Local
Authorities elections from Amravati. Pote is contesting elections for the third
time. The elections to 17 seats of the Legislative Council, including a by-poll
in Nagpur, is scheduled for June 18.
Pote will file nomination papers on June 1, in the
presence of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who is also Amravati’s
Guardian Minister.
The issues relating to distribution of seats in the Mega
alliance (Mahayuti) has been solved as yet. BJP has plans to field its
candidates from 14 constituencies. Shiv Sena (Eknath Shginde) is firm on six
constituencies, but was offered four by BJP. The issue was not sorted out till
Thursday late night.
